I'm in the process of rmaing a 270X from HIS and am looking to buy a new graphics card and sell the 270X when it gets back. My choices at the moment for an upgrade are to either wait for the release of the GTX 870 or purchase an 770 right now. Which one should I do?

If your happy enough waiting around for a few months, then by all means, go ahead!

I just wanted to make sure you understand that rumors are words and words are wind (To blatantly paraphrase GRR Martin).

This page for example says that the next release may be delayed until early next year http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/28601/20140712/gtx-800-series-release-date.htm

And back at the start of the year there were rumors that the 800 series would be released in 2014 sometime in the march-may range... that did not happen.

Any time you decide to wait for a card to come out, be prepared to wait for a few months longer then you originally expected!

That being said, Nvidia will probably do everything they can to get their cards out for...

Yeah that is my thought also it's rumored that they might be using the 20nm manufacturing process which is what im interested about. Also the thing keeping me interested in the 870 is the fact that its rumored to have 4GB of GDDR5 memory or higher. i am probably just going to wait, just wanted to see other peoples opinions on the matter as my 270X is gone for a bit and i am anxious to get a new card.

Rumors also say that Elvis is currently walking with little green aliens on a rainbow bridge between Pluto and Mars. Never trust rumors until they are verified.

Furthermore, if you wait for new components to come out you might always be waiting. If your current card is dead and you have no gaming machine now, you are probably better off getting a current generation card rather then waiting an unknown amount of time until something new comes out.

I'm just out playing high end games I have enough head room to play league and CSGO on my 5670 that I had lying around. The new gen is supposed to be released by Christmas time. I'd rather get that then buy something that's already been out for more then a year.
