Looking to upgrade

Hello I have a Dell XPS 420. I have maxed the ram and upped the graphics. Now I'm thinking of upgrading the CPU. What is the best socket 775 cpu I could put in it and would it make a significant Difference?

The best cpu for that socket is the Q9650, but I don't know if it will make a difference if we don't know the CPU you have in there in the first place. You're also probably going to have to check your motherboard model number to know for sure which CPUs it will support.

You have two solutions:
1: Go safe and get a core2quad,
2: Get a LGA771 Xeon and modify it (in an unconventional way) to make it work with your motherboard.
Xeons are very cheap, powerful quad core processors.
