Loose ethernet port

My laptop's ethernet port has become loose, thus causing inconsistent connectivity.
I bought a usb to ethernet adapter but it didn't work out as I'm behind an 802.1x authentication which as I found out later, is not supported by the adapter. Could replacing the ethernet card of my laptop be a solution.
My laptop is a Dell Vostro 2520 with a Realtek "RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller" ethernet interface

Almost all computer but especially laptops the ethernet port is built into the motherboard. Although a specialized repair place might be able to replace the physical jack it likely is not cost effective.
