I'm fixing a friends computer. The problem is that the graphics card is poorly mounted in the PCIe slot and is loose. The computer works fine when it is placed on its side so the graphics card is held into the PCIe slot by gravity. But when placed right-side up, it often times has an error when starting the computer and when running the if the computer is bumped the the graphics card will shutdown. The graphics is as tightly screwed into the expansion slot as possible. The graphics card is a GTX 280, so it is pretty big. I was wondering it there is a good way to hold it in tighter or support it to prevent it from having problems.

I'm fortunate, since my case came with a GPU bracket for holding up heavy cards. However, you might have to mod the case or make your own stand/bracket to support the graphics card

Thanks for the answers. I'll ask my friend how he feels about a modding his case and placing something to support the graphics card.
