Lose display from desktop

Occasionally, when I click on a program to run from my desktop my screen goes black. Not all programs do this. I can Control-Alt-Del and that screen will appear every time. As soon as I click on any option it goes back to black. Again, not all programs do this. I have run the diagnostics tool several times and no errors were reported. Graphics drivers are up-to-date and certified.

What program causes this error??
Name of the program?

May be Display resolution of that program causing the problem!
