Hello,

I am trying to diagnose a problem. For several months now at start up a blink
of thousands of colors appears on the screen and the screen goes black on me at
some random time. The only way to get it back is to power off and restart the
machine.

Here is what I have tried so far:

1.- I upgraded the graphics card drivers, same problem.

2.- Unpluged the monitor from the graphics card and pluged the TV to the graphics
card through an HDMI cable.
Same problem, at start up a blink of thousands of colors and at some random
time the screen goes blank, or black should I say.

So I thought: «its the grapphics card».

3.- To make sure, I removed the graphics card and replaced it by a very old card
I have lying around. Same problem, the screen goes blank on me, but this
time no zillion colors at start up.

Then I thought «it's not the graphics card».

Seems to me if it would be the graphics card that is at fault, it would work
fine with the old card. On the other hand if it would be the monitor it would
work fine on the TV with the original card? Then, what is it? Both, the
monitor (it's very old) AND the graphics card?? Or could it be the mother
board?

Is there a way to find out for sure BEFORE one starts buying replacement parts
that could or could not solve the problem?

I see you try change from the monitor into your TV ,have you try to change your VGA/HDMI cable ? If the cable not the issue, that's between PSU and Motherboard.
