Losing network connection when PC goes into sleep mode

When my PC stands idle for awhile..usually more than 30mins it disconnects from the internet. I have to manually re-enable the network connection. I use only a cable so NO wifi involved. PC `power settings` are set to `never sleep`.
Win7 64x bit O/S.
Any ideas what I can check? Thanks.

make sure power saving is disabled in the BIOS and set all windows settings to high perfomance
