Hey everyone,

So let me explain my current set up...
The router is located in my friends room below mine, as i am on the top floor (loft extension).
I wanted to reap the benefits of the 60Mb line, so i installed a powerline in his room (directly into the wall, no extension cables) and then hooked it up into my room. Now i know i am bound to lose some data speeds but i am only getting around 35Mb/s when we have just upgraded to 100Mb.

When my friend plugs the ethernet cable in directly, he gets around 93-95Mb which is fine. We are using a Virgin Super Hub 2 and this is the powerline i am using.

I am wondering where i am going wrong, there were no drivers with this model, simply plug and play. So i know it must be something on my end, but unsure why.

I hope you guys are able to help, thanks in advance.

That is not a unusual rate if you bought the 200m powerline units. The 500m ones get about 60-80m many times.

Like wireless they quote numbers nobody can possibly ever get except in some special lab setup.

These are radio waves just sent over the copper power connection. They are susceptible to interference like any other form of radio. The rate you get is greatly influenced by how your house power cable runs. In almost all cases when you are on different floors the wires run from the rooms all they way back to the main power panel.
