Today I have lost all sound on the system. No greetings
on Windows startup, no audio output from Media Player, no
reassuring click from Tray's volume-control slider. No
verbal greetings from AOL, although my (internal)
speakers indicate dial-up is happening.

I have examined "Volume Control" on Start > Accessories >
Entertainment, but this is set high and no Mute button
has been set. Finally, since everything worked OK
yesterday, I have invoked System Restore, but without
success.

I think the problem was caused by an involuntary slip of
the mouse in the All Programs menu, but I have looked at
everything and can find nothing wrong.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Check with Kelly's site as Will suggested, if no help?
Look around your system for another application with a mute feature,I once
watched a DVD movie using WinDVD and apon exit I accidently hit the mute
feature in this program and all system sounds where lost as well.
