Question Lost mouse drivers, can't recover so far

I'm going mad trying to get my pc fixed. Had a power outage and now my mouse and pointer options are gone from the device mgmt menu. I've tried all sorts of things to fix the issue including reinstalling windows 10 after formatting the hard drive, uninstalling USB devices and restarting the pc, installing the latest bios in my mobo, and nothing seems to work. I've moved my working keyboard to other USB ports and it still works to finger thru the menus. I'm also certain the mouse is good because this happened once before and a system reinstall fixed it then. But now I'm lost... Please help.

so you did NOT test with another mouse?

The mouse is good, I have no doubt. I also still have no mouse and other pointing device menu in the settings.

I tried using a ps/2 mouse the last time this happened. That was a no go then as well.

What a silly problem this was. Last time the extra mouse didn't work and windows fixed the issue. This time windows didn't fix it yet my extra mouse worked. Using the previous experience with this same issue turned out to be a bad idea because my mouse actually was dead... Lesson learned I guess. But why the extra mouse didn't work last time, idk.
