Lost my computer icon on win 7 desktop

Hello,
Lost My computer icon on the Win 7 desktop. None of the usual solutions are returning it...such as selecting it from the Start Menu to show on desktop or Control Panel to Personalization, or reapplying defaults. Any sugguestions?

Any new software installs just prior to it happening? Ran a virus scan and malware scan?

I hooked up my new Nook Tablet (it showed up in the tray) to add music, and I disconnected it through the tray icon a couple of times but I haven't installed any new programs.
