Hello,

So my case might seem dumb, forgive me. I tried to do a clean windows 10 install for my PC and I used my external hard drive as a flash drive to complete the install. The problem is that my hard drive had very important files in there which didn't exceed 10GB and my drive has 1TB of storage so I thought that windows would use the only space it needs and leave my files there but I ended up losing them and my question now is there anyway I can recover them.

Solution
  1. The MediaCreation tool warns you, twice, that it will wipe the drive completely.
  2. Why was this the only copy of these "very important files"?
  3. You can try one of the consumer level partition/file recovery tools. You WILL need another drive to recover to.

TestDisk, DMDE, Autopsy.
