Yeah.... this is really dumb. I just bought a prebuilt computer from this company called microtel. It came with windows 7 pre installed and it's asking for my windows 7 product key. Turns out, the product key was on this tag that I ripped off earlier and I can't find it anywhere. What should I do?

If missing, call the company you bought it from.

Product key for pre built systems is on a sticker that MUST BE physically affixed to the case somewhere. If it is not visible, open up the case and look inside.

If was legitimately preinstalled should be in your registry and can be found with various utilities including Belarc Advisor.

if the key was at some point entered in windows you can use a program like "produkey" to see what it is.
if no key ever was entered then you'll have to phone microtel to get it (i think manufacturers keep record of keys they send out on prebuilt machines, you'll have to provide them with an order number or something)
otherwise, phone microsoft, explain your situation and hope they're understanding enough to give you a replacement key.
