Gday tomshardware,
I am ordering my PC very shortly, I am looking for a 19" CRT for gaming, I will have an X800XT with various other high performace parts.

I am unsure on which way togo about monitor..

LG T910B or maybe PHILIPS 109B55

lg has a dot pitch of .20 / .24
philips is .21 / .25

The Philips has extra's to enhance picture quality as the LG does not seem to..

Could I please have some help to choose my best option in CRT for high quality visual?

Hope ya can help,

Paul - Adelaide, Australia

Signature! Is that spelt right?

That LG looks ok but I have another you should check out. Since Sony no longer makes their Trinitron monitors that were number 1 by far you must go for the next best thing, a Mitsubishi DiamondTron. It isn't just a simmilar name it is almost the exact same hardware. Trinitrons were the best so I'm glad Mitsubishi has continued the tradition and made monitors that are just about equal to them. Trinitrons and Diamondtrons use an aperture grille to allow the tube to be totally flat and provide a far superior sharpness and brightness.
The Mitsubishi DiamondTrons are these:
FE991SB (.25mm aperture grille)
FE991SB-BK (same but black)
DP930SB-BK (.24mm aperture grille)

Back in the day, Hitachi had FAR better picture quality than the Trinitron. I speak of that day because it was 5 years ago and monitors should last that long. Sony sort of caught up with Hitachi, but at extreme cost, making Hitachi #1 by far. Until you get into REALLY high quality, in which case Samsung was #1. An old Samsung 17" monitor, rated at 1600x1200 resolution, would go 1920x1440 if you altered the driver. Been there, done that. Perfect clarity.

A lot of people hated Sony for the lines across the screen.

Think about this: Hitachi tubes from way back in the 90's were .21mm dot pitch (and not some bogus striped pitch either).
