lost photos on SD card

accidentally removed usb cable from computer before taking the proper precautions. (and before being able to upload the photos) Now when I check my camera, over 500 photos have disappeared from the sd card. Is there any way I can get these photos back or have they been permanently deleted due to my stupidity?

Connect the SD Card through Card reader and download a recovering software, lots present in google search. Just run it on the SD partition and save the photos.
