Lost space in my Toshiba external hard drive

I have a1TB Toshiba external hard drive, it was formatted and now only has 80 GB of storage space available. How do I get all the space available to use again?

Yes most is unallocarted and it will not let me left click all options are greyed out.

What happens if you right-clcik it? Do you get a menu? If you do, choose format.

All options are greyed out when I right click as well. It will not let me format the unallocated portion.

Have you tried a different USB cable (if it's not fixed). It could be the HDD has I/O errors. Run a chkdsk maybe.. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html
