My Nephew screwed up his computer, then his roomate installed xp home
edition from his HP laptop CD's.

He asked me to try and resurrect Win XP MCE. The manual from HP says
there is a recovery partition, but when I look in computermanagement it
shows the 120gb HD formated to 111gb and nothing left over (maybe 8mb).
Best Buy didn't give him any CD's from Microsoft when he bought it
over a year ago.

There is a COA sticker on the side, so all I need is a boot MCE CD.
Right??

Any suggestions?

Norm

Turn this problem back over to the owner IMHO.

Can't do that. He is completely computer illiterate. But one hell of
a cabinet maker.
Looks like I will be ordering recovery disks from HP. Thank You, Joe

Norm- Any owners of antique 873N MCE still in need of recoveries?

I am paralyzed Stroke patient. Could I take my set of (8) recovery CD's to
Connecting Point, etc and request them to duplicate?

I unstand copyright could be issue but this stuff is as old as Mother Earth, Herself.

My CD set is as new and never been copied.

If the drive has been formated and system installed over the original then recovery disc can't help you recovery old system back.

If you have OEM Windows MCE, just install the operating system from scratch and just use the old key.

MCE uses XP Pro not XP Home.
