Hello Everyone ,

I Don't know if anyone in here has ever experienced this . But sometimes whenever I start my computer one of my gpu cards has a ridiculously loud fan noise . The thing sounds like a jet engine about to go down the track . The two gpu cards are identical gtx 560 ti 448 core ftw editions .And they are in SLI mode . Sometimes it does it and sometimes it is a seamless quiet start up except for the warm up of it . I also understand that underload while playing a game they get hot thus making the loud fan noise to cool itself down. If anyone has any suggestions of what I can do feel free to leave a cooment all suggestions are welcome.I recently took them both apart and cleaned them and added new thermal paste .

Thank You For Everyone's Time

Specs

z87 Gryphon MB with thermal armor
i5 4750k
32 gigs of ram
600g ssd
2x gtx 560 ti 448 core FTW edition
all operating under win 7 x64 pro

I forgot to mention that the fan noise on start up never goes away unless I shutdown and restart it

I know this applies to case fans... not sure about GPU fans

thanks for your input sir it is greatly appreciated and I learned something new today.i would have to take the gpu apart again to check if it can be lubricated but I don't think that's my answer in this case.because it isn't like a grinding metal to metal sounds it's a spinning relatively fast sound

It's possible you maybe put too much or not enough thermal paste on, did you apply it in a neat, thin coat that didn't spill over the edges?

If you did, have you checked whether there is anything obstructing a case fan or one of the GPU fans if it has two.

Otherwise, it may simply be that sometimes the software controlling the fans doesn't kick in for a moment, resulting in the fans just going at 100%. In any case, as long as you have checked that the idle temperatures are normal, it's nothing to worry about in terms of your computer's health even if you don't want to listen to Heathrow every day.

I did the pea size method and I ran my fingers on the edges to make sure there was no overflow . and I think it is something in the software because sometimes it does it and sometimes it is ultra quiet.I just don't get it .

yea from what I saw on after burner the gpu that has the hdmi in it is running at 1000 rpm which is a quiet speed and the second gpu is running at 5000 rpm and there is no programs available that will let me adjust it.after installing the cards solo I found out that the graphics card on the bottom is bad. when I put the old card solo it runs virtually quiet and when I run the new card in solo right off the back it starts spinning at 5000 rpm so I will just returning the gpu thanks for everyones input it was greatly appreciated

Glad you found the problem, and thanks for letting us know the outcome!
