Question Loud grinding noise from PSU when booting PC ?

A couple days ago I turned on my pc like normal and upon boot it started making a very loud grinding noise which I'm 99% sure is my PSU. (EVGA 600w Bronze) It happened again today so I did some research and found it could be a couple of issues like coil whine, bad bearings, bad fan, or a wire hitting the fan blade. The only reason why I'm making this thread is because the unusual thing is that both times this happened right after booting. I just turned off my pc and turned it back on and it didn't happen all day.

The first time it happened after rebooting I didn't hear the noise for 2 days then after leaving my pc off overnight today It suddenly came back again, but still went away after a simple reboot. Anyone else experience this issue and find a solution?

Yup, from the description, it sounds like a fan bearing. Not surprising; the 600W Bronze EVGAs (B1, BR, BQ, BA), are all very cheaply made and of mediocre quality as a result, so it's not shocking to see a fan go.

I've cleaned and lubricated a couple PSU fans. Might be able to get some more life out of the PSU. You could replace the fan but you need to know the fan voltage, current draw, CFM. (It's cheaper than replacing the PSU altogether though.)
