Recently I bought HDD HGST HUS726040ALE614 4TB,
turns out that it constantly makes a noise every 2 seconds, no matter is it reading files or is it in the idle.
I already have few HGST drives and they are not loud at all, they makes sound only when reading copying files. it is not annoying when a drive makes sound while copying files, but it is when makes constant noise.
it this normal or not? could it be this drive is refurbished so that is the reason, also it is 3-4 degrees warmer temperature compares to other 4TB drives in the same environment. other drives are HMS5C4040BLE640 and they dont make this kind of noise as I explained.
so far it works normally and is shown healthy status in hdtune program.
is there any way to make it not noisy? even if it slow downs in speed?
I read about hitachi feature tool, allegedly it was possible to work with acoustic management for a drive, but turns out it doesn't support hdd larger than 3TB.
I cant turn it off and on all the time, and probably that is not good for a drive to be constantly turned off-on.
I am disappointed, I didn't have problems with hgst drives so far.
