If it's loud as in a smooth spinning loudness with no clicks, erratic start/stop sounds, things like that, may not be an issue. However if the disk was a lot quieter before, it may be bad. There may be a disk check option in the BIOS of the computer, see if there is one, run it. Dell may also have a utility you can install,or already be installed, that will test your hardware.
The regular Windows check disk is not good for detecting failing drives in most cases, it usually just masks the issue till the drive fails totally with all your data on it.
I also suggest that you backup your files and settings now if you suspect at all that you have drive issues.
