I picked up a Sapphire 5870 recently, and i seem to be getting very low scores 3d mark vantage, also seems i'm not getting the FPS i should be getting in games ethier. All settings default BTW (on 3dmark).

GPU Score: 11,100
CPU Score: 9,200

3dMark Vantage Score: 10k

Specs:
Windows 7 (x64) RC7 7100
AMD PhenomII x4 920 @ stock (2.8)
Biostar 790gx 128m Mobo
4 Gbs Corsair xms 1066
Sapphire 5870

I kno my CPU isnt the best out there but its a overall pretty recent chip, I think my scores should be higher. Am i right? Especially my GPU score i would think. For the last couple of days ive been googling like crazy to try and figure this out, and cant seem to get anywhere.

Can anyone help me out in this matter?

Thanks!

Your power supply is not a problem. I have a cooler master 620w and I'm running with ati5870 for graphics and nividia 8600gt for physics. so the problem is else where. You have 2 things to try imho. One is to change the pci-e slot, and the other is to delete registry ati entries. It' s rare but it can be a bug where you have set antialias manual from driver and it's locked there.
I have solve just by changing slot btw.

That does seem low, but I scored just under 19K on 3DMARK06 with an i7 920 @ 3.7GHz and (1) GTX 260 Core 216. I would overclock your CPU a little and you should see some improvements. With 2 GPUs I get just under 25K, and I would think you should be closer to that score.

It definitely sounds like some driver issues. I also scored around 15.5K With stock i7 920 and stock GPU speeds for further reference.

I was on same boat as you were scoring 13xxx on GPU until I changed the driver to 9.10beta (8.66R6) and obtained the following: GPU/15808 and CPU/11585 and total P14488 which is pretty inline with reviews and everyone else on the web!

With following setup:
CPU: Phenom II 955 @ 3.4Ghz (Stock cooler!)
RAM: OCZ 6GB DDR1333 6-6-6-18 T1 1.65v - Dual Channel Unganged (You read that right).
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1GB (Thanks again Sniper!) <= Default Clocks
GPU Driver: 8.66R6 (9.10 Beta) - (Used to use the one that came with CD but it was crap giving me 13900 GPU Score)
Vantage: Performance Setting
OS: Windows 7

Check out the overclocking Sticky in the overclocking section. That should help get you started. If you have more questions after you read through it, feel free to ask us more in depth questions. Good luck.

Ok, i got it stable at 3.2 but going any higher and my cpu says :non: My issue is with heat (stock cooler). Can you recomend a good HSF? Also in my bios i cant change my core voltage. but by bumping my overvoltage i had it stable at 3.5 but with the heat it's not a option to keep it there at the moment. Am i doing the right thing by bumping my overvoltage to get it stable? I'm pretty new to overclocking so its alot of trial and error on my part

Here is my 5850 overclocked to 5870 speeds. I'm still missing the extra shaders of course.

You clearly have something else amiss in your system.

OK, the new drivers on ATI's website seem to have fixed my problem. i scored a 15.1k (GPU) in Vantage this morning! I should be right where i want considering im still only on a phenom 920 @3.1. My score sounds about right correct?

Thanks everyone who helped me, it's really appreciated!

That's a pretty decent score considering. I've got a 5870 with an i7 920. At stock speeds I was getting a 3dmark vantage score of about 14k. I'm now overclocked on the i7 to 4ghz and have flashed my card's bios to the Asus bios so I can unlock it and use MSI's afterburner to overclock it. That's now running at 1000mhz core/1300(5200)mhz memory (@1.3v). Getting 21,299 now in Vantage which was a nice improvement. Got my old nVidia 9600GT in there too for the physx which helped bump the CPU scores (18,363 GPU and 40,943 CPU as you can see below) :D

I would say your not too far off. With the CCC setup for everything forced to max, 8x AA, 16x AF, vsync on (i suspect 3dmark overrides these settings?) - my stock clocks i5 with a non o/c 5870 ran about 19k on 3Dmark06, o/c the i5 to 3.6 gave me about 22k, all the scores went up not just the CPU. I have the 9.10 drivers.

Hmm I am running very low scores as well, and i have 5870 X 2!! WTF? Im getting 19000 scores running in crossfire. Is it something to do with windows 7? Im comparing scores on the site and some people with the same setup are getting 47K?? I understand they are overclocking, but still?

System:

i7 950 Processor
MSI Eclipse Plus Mobo
Sapphire radeon 5870 X 2 in crossfire
OCZ 6G DDR 3 1600
Corsair HX1000W power supply
Coolermaster v8 on the cpu
Coolermaster HAF32 case

HELP! lol

the card is bottlenecked and i will explain why. the main componenets of you computer are the hard drive, ram, gfx card and cpu. now in that area. the cpu is the slower part compaired to the card which run in tandem to produce picture. so therefore if the card is running at 4800Mhz. the processor at 2.66GHz just isn't fast enough... and everything is only as fast as your slowest parts..

That sounds low like! Try disabling anything you shouldnt have running, fraps etc. and also make sure Ati control panel is all set to performance and try again.

I got just over 17k for both GPU & CPU scores with nothing overclocked!

Rig:
Asus P6t deluxe v2 mainboard
intel i7 920 @ 2.66 stock
Sapphire Radeon HD5870 @ stock
6GB Corsair RAM @ 1600mhz
1TB Samsung Spinpoint 7200rpm drive.

but i was getting the same problem my 5870 was only hitting 13000 in vantage i then re-formatted my pc put new ati drivers in and walla was getting the right speed.
also that stock 920 u got will hold ur card back u must overclock to at least 3.2

i believe there is also an issue beacuse of physx :pfff: with a gtx 260 and e8400 i score 13660 beacuse with physx enabled it make your cpu score much higher. with physx enabled my cpu score was 36998 when i ran the test with physx disabled that cpu score dropped to a measley 7896

I just got my Asus EAH5870 Version 2 in yesterday, and got a real low score of 17200ish. I also installed a new Q9650 in place of my old Q6600. Old scores with Q6600 @ 3.825 and two 3870's in crossfire were 18200ish. When I overclocked the Q9650 it brought my scores up to 18700ish. I was hoping to see an increase much more than 500 in 3DMark06.

Also my temps on the new Asus 5870 are freakishly high. Idle 59ish load up to 82. I may be putting my VF1000 on it b/c it sounds like a hair dryer when even at 50% fan speed.

Was using the Asus drivers it came with, will be using latest ATI release drivers when I get home this evening.

hey guys does this sound normal to you?
With my stock 5870 and Phenom II X4 965 3.4ghz i get total score of
15025. So...:
CPU 11454
GPU 16767
Does this look good or is something wrong? the score seems a bit low for me..
