Question Low budget CPU Upgrades Recommendations

Currently running an AMD FX 8350, 8 GB Ram and a GTX 960 card. But often I am now having to downgrade quality in games because the CPU doesn't utilise all the cores. Thinking to switch to an Intel core but not wanting to break the bank. Any recommendations on a good switch which will give me decent performance for about a year when I will then look to upgrade to whole rig?
