I'll start by saying that I know my PC is pretty much overdue for a MAJOR upgrade. I'm running a Phenom II X6 1055T with 4GB of DDR3. I run my monitor at 1600x900 resolution. I don't mind low settings in games, so I've been getting by with a GT610 for the longest time after my 9800GT card died. Given, I only play some LOL and POE occasionally.

I planned on getting a GT730 (GDDR5, currently @ ~105$)once I see it on sale, but I found a HD 6770 (GDDR5, 1GB VRAM) on sale for 57$. I know HD6770 could potentially outperform a GT730, but it has older architecture and doesn't support Vulkan. My PSU and cooling is sufficient for the upgrade either way. What other consequences would I face with going back to older GPUs and architecture? Would the older HD6770 be worth getting given my current setup?

Oh, I forgot to mention that I live in Canada, so with the US$>Canadian$ along with shipping duty and taxes, the price gets to where its at for me. So with 73 USD being around 100 CAD, I would be looking at:

HD 6770 for 42$ (USD)

GT 730 for 75$ (USD)

GTX750/GTX 1050 for 110$ (USD)

I know that the extra power consumption, over 4 years, on the HD 6770 will bring my total cost close to the price of a GT 730. What other disadvantages are there other than higher power consumption and lack of support Vulkan and the latest versions of DirectX and OpenGL? Are they bad enough that I should just forget it and get the newer card?

Can you find an AMD R7 350 in your area? That's an HD 7750 rebadged, which means it's still supported by the new drivers. I would not spend a premium for a 730, not even for the DDR5 version. Although it's leaps and bounds better than the 610, it's still a high price for a low end card. 900p is too high a resolution for a 730, you'd want to stay as low as possible with it. Your CPU is not bad for a low cost gaming computer, a 750 or 1050 would serve you well although at a higher cost.
