Low End Graphics Cards: Underrated (Discussion)

Right now I own the EVGA 750Ti SC. I previously had 2 768p monitors, and my 1440p one came today. My thinking was that I would definitely have to upgrade my graphics card to game on 1440p. You hear it commonly said on this forum that people need 4GB VRAM, and a card such as the 970 to even consider gaming on 1440p.

I whip open Assassin's Creed III, and I am in awe that I maintain 60FPS in Boston with textures maxed out, shadows on high, and even with anti-aliasing. Are these cards really underestimated that much? I am fully capable of playing games on a 750Ti on 1440p and some people would never fathom the idea.

yea you can play a lot of games just not all the triple a games maxed out and all those twitch games like cs go. you may need to upgrade in the future if you play more demanding games

Yeah but people frequently say you plain out cannot play those games which is false.

I've never seen anybody say you can't play games with a low end card. I mean up until around November of last year I was still using an HD 4870. That is low end. A 750 Ti isn't that low end, it is still modern and is still frequently recommend for people who don't have PCIe power cables on their PSU.

I only used the HD 4870 for a few months before getting a R9 280. Before that I was still using my 8800GT 512, which is surprisingly still good for what it is.

My issue with your argument is implying the 750 ti is epic good with the only evidence being a single outdated title that is optimized for PS3 and Xbox 360. The higher end cards are recommended to people because they play modern demanding games. Just look at the forum, can a 750 ti run the Witcher 3 on ultra @ 60 fps @ 1080, or how about GTA V ultra @ 60 fps @ 1080? No of course not. But these are the questions people ask.

The 750 ti is not recommend because the random folks who come here have unreasonable expectations.
