low end laptop questions

Good day,

So I'm planning on getting this cheap Acer Aspire One D270 10.1 laptop and just putting some kind of linux on it. will it do the trick or will it still lag and hang with that one gb of ram?
(im getting it for around $70 so its quite cheap)

1GB RAM is more than enough to run most Linux derivatives: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1582027

Not sure if Linux-based OS will support all your laptop's hardware though.
