hi everybody, i have a question, a problem... but i don't know exactly how to solve it.

i got this components:

ASUS p8p67le 1155 SOCKET
i5 2500k 3,3 GHz
12GB RAM DDR3 1600 MHz
XFX RX 470 8GB GDDR5

in game, when i play i got 45-60 fps in the nature, and open space world, but when i go into city, or in some places with a lot of peoples and object, fps decrease to 25-30!
How can i solve this? i think is the GPU...

Thank you! <3 <3

Here is an idea for a full build for less than $900 that will be much faster than your current system.

Odds are your CPU cannot handle all the extra data that it needs in the busy spaces of the city. You can reduce your resolution or quality settings to make it easier on the GPU. If doing this increases your FPS then you are GPU limited.

All backwards.
More densely packed areas are hard on the cpu.
That, and you're probably running in single channel with the odd 12GB memory configuration; I don't think that mobo supports Memory Flex Mode.
Double cpu whammy.
One reason why I suggested to reduce resolution or graphical settings. If the FPS increase you are GPU limited. If the FPS stays the same you are CPU limited. It is a free test to see where you are limited.

Guys, i think i've buy a "chinese" version of the RX 470 :')
because i see some gaming benchmarks, and i see difference...

i've try some games like hitman 2, and just cause 3 and i've see that between ultra setting and low settings there are only a couple frames of difference. Like in miami mission on hitman 2 and everything ultra i hit 32/37 Fps then if i play everything on low i get 38/42 fps, same thing with just cause 3  is that possible?

It is possible if you are CPU limited. Those games the minimum system requirements call for an i5-2500k. In general when you look at minimum system requirements you are going to be looking at 30fps.

what if i replace the i5 with an xeon e3 1230 and the rx 470 with a gtx 980?
The 4c/8t will help with gaming, as will the added GPU power of the 980. However, I wouldn't go with either. The 980 is about 5-10% faster than the 8GB 470 in games from 2016. https://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1748?vs=1716 Newer games the difference is even less or flipped. https://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/2300?vs=2142 The best CPU you can get on you current motherboard is a i7-3770k. You are better off just upgrading your CPU, motherboard, and RAM to something modern.

So basically like I said from the beginning it is the I5 quad core being weak and old. As for upgrading it isn't worth it. As Jeremy said the best you can do is flash the BIOS and put an Ivy Bridges I7 in there. It would be better than what you have now but it is still old and in a short time you will be right back to where you started. It would be better to just upgrade the whole computer.
