My specs
Rtx 2060 oc
8600k overclocked
16 gb DDR 4 2400
HDD
430 w Psu
1080p g sync

After looking at a few websites that give estimates on performance with my GPU running pubg, my fps is a lot lower than what it seems like it should be. I play on a 144hz monitor and its basicly the only game I play. I use competitive settings so mostly very low apart from AA and and textures on medium but my fps in heavy situations is going as low as 80. The sites I'm referring to are using a 8700k which is obviously better than my cpu but they are achieving around 250 fps with my settings. It's runs at around 110- 142 when I'm not around lots of people. Any ideas guys ?

Solution
the issues you reported with your HDD sound to me like it's most likely an issue caused by the drive.
Sounds like the drive is starting to reach it's end of life perhaps.
Would be a good idea to look into replacing it as soon as you can.

Pro tip, disconnect any and all drives other than the one you are going to install Windows onto when you do the install, otherwise, it will install the MBR (Master Boot Record) partition to a separate drive from the one you are installing Windows onto, this creates a problem if you ever remove said drive that has the MBR on it, since if the MBR is not present, Windows will not boot.
CPU can play a heavy part in FPS on a game like PUBG.
But if you are overclocked well enough to be at least 4.5GHz then you should be having no issues there.

Don't know what the other poster was saying about buying a "real" PSU since they don't even know what PSU you have since you haven't stated, therefore their assumption that your PSU isn't somehow "real" is based entirely off of the wattage which is honestly a bit on the low side, but if the unit itself is of high quality then should be just enough wattage to support it.

I would double check that you don't need any windows updates, and triple check that you don't need any graphics driver updates.

Furthermore, try using DDU in safe mode to uninstall your drivers completely from the system then install them again fresh using the latest ones.

After that, if you aren't missing any important updates for anything, and your system isn't bloated and bogged down with useless software and unnecessary background tasks, then perhaps your PSU is just a bit under spec and limiting your GPU's potential, but I am not saying that it is guaranteed that upgrading your PSU would solve your issues either.

Lastly, while it usually doesn't have a huge impact on performance, I did notice you mentioned an HDD which implies Hard Disk Drive (meaning spinning platters)
If it's speed is lower than 7200 RPM, and/or it has seen a lot of usage and is getting old, it could end up slowing things down a bit and causing issues such as lower frame rates.

All of these different things are things to take under consideration and do testing on to try and figure out the source of your issues with frame rates being so drastically different from other people's benchmarks.

Thanks for the response. My psu is a Corsair cx430. Fresh windows install, fresh drivers and always install new windows updates. My hardware was brand new as of 2 years ago but not my hhd and I only have pubg installed apart from software for my devices. Is there anyway to check the health of my Hdd and do you think that psu is suitable enough. I run a 4.5gb oc on my cpu

Update. Just ordered A ssd with one day shipping from amazon so I will see if that helps but if you could still tell me If my psu is trash, would be much appreciated 🙂

The CX line isn't the best of the best, but it's not complete trash.
You might benefit in general from an upgrade in wattage, but I wouldn't look into it right away.

You say clean windows install and I would assume that means you've installed necessary drivers and chipset stuff from the motherboard manufacturer website and have the latest Nvidia drivers from geforce website.

As I said prior, you can make sure it isn't a driver issue by doing a clean install of Nvidia drivers by installing with DDU.

only have the lan driver and audio driver from the asrock website, not the chipset though. I will be on my pc in around a hour and will reply as soon as I download the chipset driver. Your advice is invaluable. Thank you so much

Can confirm that I've not installed this before on the multiple times I have reset the pc in the time I've had this motherboard..... i do have the latest drivers from Nvidia

Try downloading a monitoring software that tells you the temperature and percentage use of your GPU while its playing games.

This should give us some insight into the problem.

Booted in safe mode and used ddu to uninstall my gpu drivers., will update you guys once I have tried playing again ASAP. Something interesting though. I just downloaded Crystal disk info to check the health of my HDD. All the indicators should be blue to show my drive is working well but instead i have one indicator thats yellow and instead of displaying good at the top left corner, it says caution ....... are you aware of this program. May this be the issue ??. My second hdd is all blue and displaying good

Just unstalled pubg, made a new steam folder on my 2nd drive that I just use for storage as its quite small and I've noticed a few interesting things during my time re downloading pubg. All the steam downloads I've ever done with my c drive which I've used for years now downloaded in small chunks, like it will start and then stop on the graph and my disk usage can never keep up with my download speed, I thought this was normal. This time using my spare drive the download has gone through without stopping once and my disk usage has kept up exactly with my download speed . I think my Hdd may be dieing. This is the last post I will put for today to let you guys catch up. My new ssd arrives tomorrow so I will install Windows on it and let you know the results. Thanks

here are some images from hardware monitor not underload as for some reason when playing the game alt tabbing out wouldn't let me take screenshots

Just installed windows and all drivers on my new ssd. I can report my game performance is a lot smoother. Thanks for all the advice my friend
