Recently i have noticed i have been getting very low fps ocassionaly on any game i play

My Rig

CPU - AMD FX 8350
GPU - GTX 960
RAM - 16GB (Unknown Model)
240GB SSD (Unknown Model)
2TB HDD (Unknown Model)
MotherBoard - ASUSTeK M5A97 R2.0

What happens is that when i play games i get generally low fps for some reason, its a decent build. so i have no idea why its not functioning correctly. when it happens my CPU goes to max Hz and the temperature of my CPU goes above the threshold of ASUS Suite II.

Any help appreciated and any more information can be gathered

The max you want the fx-8350 is 70c so your temps are to high. Get a good aftermarket heatsink. You may want the cryorig H7 instead. It costs more but is very good. If you can afford better than the M9a the H7 is the way to go.

Your motherboard supports you CPU upto 140W. As long as your not overclocking its a odd issue. Have you got the latest bios and drivers?

You may need to set your windows power settings from balaced to performance. Check you temps as you could be throttling. What is your heatsink?

Thank you for the reply

I recently update the bios and as far as im aware the drivers are either updating automatically or are prompting me when there is an update but there could be one

Which temps would i be monitoring?

Is there any way to find out what the heatsink is because im not entirely sure.

The CPU temps and if you didn't buy one it must be stock. Is the heatsink a wraith spiral? If not you may need a better cooler. Here is a good aftermarket replacement a bit better than the wraith.
