low fps on bf3 hd 7970 and fx 8350

so i built my computer last month with a sapphire hd 7970 and an fx 8350 and i started to play bf3 and i hvae noticed that iv gotten low fps or the fps would drop randomly. i would get around 65-75 fps most of the time then it would go down to 60 or even 50 fps when playing the game. ive seen people with the same setup to get around 80+ fps almost always with very little drops fps is there any way something could be causing this and i am running everything on ultra no vsync and motion blur turned off.

Provide more details please. Need to know your resolution, motherboard and RAM.

80 FPS at 1080p is excellent for your rig and dropping down to 50 FPS is completely normal in online play (I assume that's where it drops down?) BF3 is a CPU intensive game in Multiplayer and unfortunately, AMD suffers in that area. Then again, the same rig with an intel i5 will only just be hitting 60 fps on 64 player maps.

I really wouldn't worry if I was you...

my motherboard is a sabertooth 990fx i have 8 gb corsair 1600mhz and i was running at 1920p and would overclocking the processor work and if it does what is the best way to do it

That's some good stuff.
Yes, overclocking would be a good idea. I'm not quite sure on AMD boards, but changing the Multiplier setting should be the main thing and hopefully the only thing you have to do. The stock multiplier should be at 40 which is 4Ghz, I would start by hitting 45 and see how that goes. The voltage should adjust itself automatically.

sounds about normal fps for that game. if you have a 60hz monitor you wont see more than 60fps anyway. 50/60fps is considered smooth by most people.

i guess i was just expecting more from the hd 7970 i checked the gpu usage during playing multyplayer and it goes up and down shouldnt it be stable

multiplayer is more taxing on the cpu. check on single player for more accurate gpu useage. gpu usage will fluctuate in any game.

Yes BF4 is like that. When in game look straight down at the ground and your frames will jump. Look at other players in heavy combat, frames take a dip. It happens in most games, just more pronounced in BF4 because it's made to use your GPU very efficiently.
