Low FPS on Gaming Laptop

So i have this asus ROG gaming computer since like 6 months ago and it is starting to get very slow. The fps on ARK:Survival Evolved and another games is very low. My friends have the same graphics card as me (860M, Nvidia GTX) and they play in medium/high graphics with over 60 fps but i have to play in low settings and get about 40 fps max (20 fps in medium). Please help. I have an ASUS ROG, 12GB Ram , Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.40GHz boosted 3GHz. Windows 8- 64bit.

gaming laptops with such powerful hardware require large amounts of power that batteries sometimes can hardly offer. i really suggest gaming on a/c adapter for max performance. also ensure nvidia optimus is properly working, utilizing 860m and not the igp. also power plan on windows must be set on high performance and cpu - gpu temps must be closely monitored!

Most likely it is heating issue, what is the temps while gaming?
