Hi,
I have a pretty good gaming pc and i am getting around 37 fps on medium settings on guild wars 2 but i can run far cry 3 on high at 60 fps 1080P.
Specs:
CPU: AMD athlon x4 760k
GPU: Radeon R9 270x
MOBO: MSI A87M-E35
RAM: 8GB crucial ballistix sport
Storage: 1TB Hard drive

Does anyone know if this is really the best performance that i can get on my hardware or is something holding it back? Any suggestions?

Thanks 😀

You have a reasonable budget gaming CPU but its IPC performance isn't great and MMOs are very CPU intensive. If you had a better motherboard I would suggest overclocking the CPU, but I wouldn't even try it on that budget board.

Turn the graphics settings up to high (except AA & sampling) because it's not your GPU holding you back, and just enjoy it - 37fps is more than playable for GW2, it's not like it's a FPS where every frame counts.
The only thing I would change with that is the processor . You can try to install the latest drivers too! Look up micro center and bundles. You can bundle a processor or get an idea . Personally I love the intel Pentium G3248, it's a overclocker

when i try to turn up the textures etc the frame rate still gets a lot worse... (as i said before my friend plays on a pentium g3240 and he gets a much better fps than me)

Unforunantly i am a student and i am on a very low budget, do you think an
Intel Pentium G3258 and a Asus H81M-E Motherboard together would cut it? How would this affect my FPS on games such as Far Cry 3?

If you google around you should find some good budget boards that overclock well with the pentium G3258 - from memory I think the MSI H81m-P33 can overclock it to 4ghz on the stock cooler (if you have a case with usb 3 ports you will need to purchase the p33 v2)

For most games your framerates will likely be either very similar or slightly better with the g3258 over the 760k, except on GW2 where they will likely improve a ton.

Thanks a lot i really appreciate the help 😀
