CPU: i7 6700k no overclock
GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080
RAM: Corsair 32GB RAM 3000MHz (4x8)
PSU: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold
MB: Gigabyte GA Z170X Gaming 5
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO (all my games are on this + Windows)
Windows 10 Home

In general, I have been getting about a third of the FPS I should be getting. In CSGO I usually don’t go above 250 FPS. When I had a GTX 970, I could get up to 600 FPS (same settings). When I first got the GTX 1080 it was all good but the system recently started acting up.

On Rocket League, I don’t go above 200 FPS, on GTX 970 I could get up to 400.

My GPU usage is pretty low and usually doesn’t go above 20-30%. Sometimes stays below 20%.

I have done all the nvidia settings, power plans, vsync on and off, reset bios settings, change in game settings, uninstall drivers in safe mode with DDU and reinstall, check for windows updates, disable anti virus and windows firewall / defender, unpark CPU cores, update bios, overclock gpu / cpu, made sure my ram is running in dual channel and at 3000MHz, tried old nvidia drivers, disabling HTEP, disabling everything to do with the xbox app, turning the computer on and off again, updating windows, and contacting nvidia support.

Another strange issue is whenever I open discord, my fps drops by a lot and I start to stutter (even with hardware acceleration off). I tried to stream using NVIDIA NVENC codec which uses your GPU and my GPU usage was still low and I was getting horrible FPS in game, There is no thermal throttling, the temps are all very good. CPU cooler is a Noctua DH14 using arctic silver thermal paste.

I have not tried wiping my system, resetting CMOS, and reinstalling windows. Those are the last things I want to do.

I ran a UserBenchmark and it said everything but my GPU was running great. The GPU was “performing way below expectations - 13th percentile” or something like that.

cuppla questions:

is yr graphics card in the correct PCI slot? X8 X16

is the bios set to use dedicated gfx not IGP

do you need more than 250 FPS in CSGO?

what monitor do you have?

have you tried with XMP support disabled?

on your Userbenchmark report what was the %age of your background usage?
