Question low fps witout battery

So I have an hp omen 17 laptop and today I noticed that the battery has bulged a lot and I took it out.
After that I launched up Rust and i was getting 30-40 fps instead of 60-70 before.
I have battery saving mode off everywhere and task manager shows 100% gpu and cpu usage even though the computer isnt humming as loud as it usually is.

Is this normal? im only playing when the laptop is plugged into the wall,without the battery.

Sometimes the power supply isn't sufficient for running the laptop at full tilt. Under those conditions the battery will drain while it is plugged in.

You either need a bigger power brick, or a new battery (or both, might be why your battery died, too many cycles)
