[SOLVED] low fps

so i was playing a game with a friend last night and ended up talking about our computers and how much fps we were getting so my friend has a gtx 1060 gpu and i have a gtx 1070 and he is getting more fps than i am now im not the the best with computer hardware but shouldn't i be getting better fps with the better card what is holding my system back?

friends specs
i7 8700k
corsair lpx 16GB 2666MHz
not sure about mobo
asus gtx 1060
psu corsair 750

my specs
ryzen 7 2700x
corsair lpx 32GB 3000MHz
asus prime x470 pro mobo
asus gtx 1070
psu corsair RM650x
 
Solution
The memory runs at the default 2133mhz out of the box. For 3000mhz operation, you have to go into bios and either enable A-XMP - OH RIGHT, sorry, it's DOCP on Asus motherboards.
Yeah, either enable DOCP or enter the frequency, primary timings, and voltages manually. Just check the motherboard manual on how to enable DOCP.

according to HWMonitor my cpu while playing is running at 41C and the gpu is at 61C which from what ive read is pretty good temps
cpu has a corsair h100i 240mm watercooler
so i guess its the 8700k that is giving him the boost??
