[SOLVED] low fps

so i was playing a game with a friend last night and ended up talking about our computers and how much fps we were getting so my friend has a gtx 1060 gpu and i have a gtx 1070 and he is getting more fps than i am now im not the the best with computer hardware but shouldn't i be getting better fps with the better card what is holding my system back?

not sure about mobo
asus gtx 1060
psu corsair 750

my specs
ryzen 7 2700x

asus prime x470 pro mobo

Could be he has a more powerful CPU. It could be thermal related. Really too many variables.

according to HWMonitor my cpu while playing is running at 41C and the gpu is at 61C which from what ive read is pretty good temps
cpu has a corsair h100i 240mm watercooler
so i guess its the 8700k that is giving him the boost??

Likely. Its also possible the resolution of the monitors or something is different

we both have LG monitors his is 2560x1080 75Hz no gsync mine is an LG 2560x1080 144Hz with gsync

so if im understanding this site correctly my gpu is scoring way under other 1070's that are scoring in the 80% range and i am in the 40% range so does this mean its failing? or do i have some setting messed up or is somthing else failing like the psu not giving it enough power or something

You don't have A-XMP enabled either. That's done in bios.

don't know what that means i don't play in the bios don't understand it enough to mess with it
unless its enabled by default

it still gets capped at 255fps
check nvidia 3d settings for vsync or fps limit

The memory runs at the default 2133mhz out of the box. For 3000mhz operation, you have to go into bios and either enable A-XMP - OH RIGHT, sorry, it's DOCP on Asus motherboards.
Yeah, either enable DOCP or enter the frequency, primary timings, and voltages manually. Just check the motherboard manual on how to enable DOCP.

i enabled DOCP, couldn't figure out what was capping my fps so i reinstalled my graphix drivers needed to be updated anyway and ran the benchmark again

dosn't appear to have increased my fps but it seems to be more stable less fps drops
tho i guess you could call that an fps increase
