Low framerate and crackling sound in games after 15 minutes of playing

Hi,

my rig is: intel i5 6500, asus z170m mobo, 32GB corsair ddr4 ram, asus gtx 970, corsair 500W (CX500M), samsung ssd, windows 10 fall creators update.

I am experiencing sound crackling, and reduced framerates after 15 minutes of playing any demanding video game (f12017, gta5, dirt etc) and I cannot isolate the cause of this.

My system is NOT throttling (cpu, gpu frequencies do not drop when I experience the above issue). I also monitor the temperatures, and the cpu does exceed under load 70C, the GPU 72C and the motherboard 38C.

Any idea because I am completely lost here?

The problem was due to the xbox wireless adapter. If you unplug it and plug it in again problem is fixed for 15 more minutes.

Unfortunately MS support told me they will not fix the drivers, instead they will release a new version of the wireless adapter next year https://forums.xbox.com/en-US/thread/7815101b-a92e-4fdb-b00b-77128c0edc7b

Until then, just use the usb cable with your xbox controller.
