Question Low Frames or Normal?

Alright squad - help me out here. I can’t tell if I’m getting normal performance out of my PC based on the games I play (PUBG, Warzone 2, POE), or if I am doing something wrong hardware or software wise.

Averaging around 110 Frames in Warzone 2, benchmarks at the end. I know Warzone 2 is notorious for systems getting lower frames, but mine seem… questionable.

I run at 1440p. pcpartpicker link here & below:

CPU: *AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor ($153.60 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: *Cooler Master MASTERLIQUID ML240L RGB V2 65.59 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($89.99 @ B&H)
Memory: *Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($49.97 @ Newegg)
Video Card: *EVGA FTW3 ULTRA GAMING GeForce RTX 3080 10GB 10 GB Video Card ($1528.95 @ Amazon)
Case: *Fractal Design Pop Mini Air MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ B&H)
Power Supply: *Rosewill ARC 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($99.90 @ Amazon)
Monitor: *Samsung Odyssey G7 27.0" 2560 x 1440 240 Hz Curved Monitor ($546.70 @ B&H)

What I’ve done so far:
  • Made sure XMP is enabled
  • Nvidia Drivers up to date
  • Windows up to date
  • Bios up to date
I don’t know how to benchmark CPU & GPU usage but when I glance at the numbers they are looking around 50% and 80% respectively.

The only hardware I have that is significantly old is my b450 ASRock steel legend, but to my knowledge mobo doesn’t have a material effect on frames.

That being said I’m all ears for upgrades and suggestions, otherwise it might be time for an AM5 overhaul. Thanks!

Hey there,

Are all your system drivers (chipset, Lan etc) up to date ? What bios are you running on your mobo?

The mobo itself is bog standard and doesn't have a very robust VRM setup. It could be causing some throttling.

Can you post the Mem/SPD/Mainboard tab of CPU-z.

Your PSU is a bit on the light side for your system. It's cheap and I think it's Tier d. You need a decent PSU for that 3080, and any power spikes.

What power plan are you using?

What temps are CPU/GPU hitting when gaming.

Use HWIonfo to monitor your system.

According to windows my driver are all up to date. DriverFiox found 9 updates so I am updating them as well. Some look signifigant so I'll run some tests once those are done.

edit: well apparently DriverFix is malware so hopefully I didn't do any additional damage...

edit 2: chipset drivers needed updating and was hoping that would help but looks like it had no affect. Maybe a few FPS.

No, don't use DriverFix or anything else like that. use the website for your manufacturer and get the most recent updates. Windows may not report new drivers, as they only update them occasionally.

Also, think about swapping the PSU. If it's not proving enough clean power it could be why your issues is there.
