First of all, I should begin by saying that this is my first time posting here, so I apologise for any mistakes I have made in posting this thread. I have little computer experience and as such, would require you to treat me like a child =P

I was recently given a pc from a friend and when playing games such as WoW, and GTA IV, I notice only a small decrease in FPS when moving the pre set sliders from Good-High. (Somewhere in the region of 5 fps). Is this normal to loose such a small amount of FPS? I should state that the system I'm using is OLD and was mid-ranged when it was new so I’m only achieving 20-30fps anyway. Personally, I think the hard-drive might be the bottleneck in the system, but what do I know!

I’ll leave my specs below and if anyone could suggest a way to improve my system on the cheap, that'd be greatly appreciated.

AMD Athalon II x4 640 processor
AMD radeon HD 6670 GPU
8BG of DDR3 ram
ASrock M3a77ODE Mainboard.
Generic 450W psu

Thank you very much =)

The FPS drop you see is typical, the 7770 above will run the games a lot smoother.

That sounds about right, you're thinking 5 fps isn't much but if you were only getting 20 before that is a 25% decrease, doesn't sound as small when you think of it that way :).

The best upgrade is a video card for sure and the one he listed is a good choice for an upgrade.

Only additional option would be a different processor but if You're completely new to computers that might be a bit over your head to try. A power supply is pretty easy however. Not a bad suggestion and will definatly improve the likelyhood the computer lives for a while.

Upgrade the GPU for better performance. I'd also upgrade the processor to a 8320.

The CPU definitely lacks for modern games. The GPU you could live with, but a 7770 would work a lot better. I've got it in my rig, and I love it. Although, my 460W Generic PSu tends to struggle with my two 140mm fans, FX-8350, and the 7770. I would recommend upgrading to something like a silver-rated 500W.
