Low Gaming performance

I have an EVGA GTX 670 and an intel i3-2100 cooled by a corsair H50. While playing games like Battlefield 3 or Borderlands 2 I get terrible framerates even on medium-low settings. All drivers are up to date, and the games are updated as well. i have 8gb of RAM. Still terrible performance. help?

That CPU is only a dual core, which might well be the cause of your problems. Push ctrl-shift-esc, and click the performance tab. Leave that window open, and play your game for a few minutes, and then alt-tab out of it and see if CPU utilization was at or near 100% while you were playing. If so, then you will need a faster CPU.

I would also check your temperatures. Your cpu may be getting throttled. This guy claims he has a GTX 670 and an i3-2100 just like you but he seems to be getting very playable frame rates in ultra settings.
