Low gpu usage gtx 1080

Hi i bought a new pc and i'm not getting the perforance that i should

My specs:
GPU: Gigabyte gtx 1080
CPU: Amd ryzen 5 1600x
RAM: Hyperx Fury 8gb DDR4 3200mhz cl18
Motherboard: ASUS STRIX B350-F GAMING
Power supply: Antec hcg-900w
CPU Coller: Corsair Hydro H100x
SSD: Corsair Force MP500 120 Go
HDD: 2tb toshiba 7.2k RPM
OS: Windows 10 pro 64 bits
Monitor: Acer - XF240Hbmjdpr 144hz

I play mainly CSGO and my gpu usage is around 50% ~130fps ~50 degrees this may sound naive but if you played csgo you know that you need all the fps you can get
CPU arround 35% usage 40 degrees
CSGO is on the ssd

No but core 0 and 1 are a bit higher than the rest up to 75% usage

My friend gets +350fps with a gtx 980 at 1080p

It's more a matter of optimization than anything else. Not all games are set up the same when it comes to that end of things. While some are more graphically dependent, others are more CPU bound no matter what resolution you choose. That said, you're not going to max out a 1080 at 1080p. If you really want to put the card to work, it'll require a 1440p monitor or greater.

DSR is certainly going to add more complexity to the work the GPU has to do and will assuredly decrease your FPS. As before, it's game optimization that is the deciding factor. CS-GO isn't a hugely graphically demanding game and you're not likely to ever put much strain on that GPU playing it. If you want more FPS, turn some of your settings down and see if that helps any. As it stands, you're running close to your display's max frame rate anyway and anything above it is meaningless.

turning down the game settings lowers the gpu usage and gives the same fps

The i5-8600k is a much faster CPU than the 1600x. Especially in gaming.

Temps look good - what is your clockspeed while gaming?

Get latest bios for that mobo.

Install latest chipset, lan, usb, storage, and audio drivers.

Try setting windows power to max performance.

Was this a clean windows install or moved from an older pc?

I already updated the bios and the drivers as well the only thing that i have from my older pc is the hdd but there wasn't a windows installed on it
And yes it's a clean windows install on the max performance setting
I tried overlooking the cpu to 4ghz didn't see much difrence and the gpu boost up to 1900 mhz by its own

yeah you are right it's just annoying that i have a 1080 and get less fps than ppl with 980 and lower just because of gpu boost 3.0

It's not about the CPU load, but the frequency & data throughput. Ryzen cannot push the gtx 1080 to FPS high enough, to match 240hz refresh rate. In many titles even the 8700k can struggle maintaining FPS that high:

You're better off returning the 240hz panel for a 1440p gsync panel. This will place more demand on the GPU (which is what you want to get your money's worth) and depend less on the CPU throughput.

it depends on the game, i have been playing final fantasy 15 and the gpu is locked at 99% usage at 1080p i just wish it would do the same is csgo

Why would anyone need a 240Hz monitor?

And even if they did have one it would be a G-SYNC Monitor anyway so it won't matter.

The OP has a 144Hz 1080P Monitor without G-SYNC so all he has to do is make sure V-Sync is disabled and it will run fine.

Yeah, it does depend on the game, the more CPU intensive games will make the CPU struggle to keep up.
