Low GPU usage in Hitman

When playing Hitman, some areas will give me 50%-70% GPU usage while my CPU usage is at 30% or so. However, when I startup Battlefield 1 my GPU usage is generally around 97% while my CPU is at 30-45%.

My specs are:

Ryzen 1800X
GTX 1080 Ti
16 GB DDR4 3200
850W PSU

I've heard some people say that it's a problem with Hitman itself. My GPU isn't overheating. The temperatures are always in the 60s. V Sync is also enabled if that matters. Can anyone shed some light on this or tell me what's wrong?

Thanks!

What fps are you getting?

Hitman will not use much resources while BF1 will. VSync will cap your fps at 60, considering you have 60Hz monitor, which will be easily achieved by your system while playing Hitman, hence the low resource usage. I'm not sure about Hitman but It can be a CPU intensive game. If you're capping at 60 frame mark with VSync enabled, there's no reason to worry about. Perhaps, try the game without Vsync?

I forgot to mention I'm on a 144 Hz monitor.

I don't think Hitman is a game that will max out a 1080Ti. As long as you're getting 144FPS on the game regardless of the area, there's no reason to worry. A GPU will only work more if it has to. Hope this helps.

Well, the problem was I'm not hitting the 144 FPS because the GPU isn't being used to its full potential. It's maxed out in BF1, but there were a few areas in Hitman the GPU would be utilized at 60% or so and my frames would drop by 50-60 FPS. I'm starting to think it's just the nature of the game on PC because every other game works fine as far as GPU usage is concerned like BF1.

I guess it's just a Ryzen thing. Some games do better than others with the new architecture. Thank you.

The Ryzen pretty much always gets me in the 120s in most every game I played. This is the only one that seemed to suffer. Oh, well.

Sorry for being a necro, but Yeah, its a hitman thing...its some sort of a ryzen bottleneck or an nvidia issue (as i saw some radeon benchmarks coupled with ryzen where it doesn't happen).
I get it with a gtx 970 at 1080p, so you can rest assure its not your GPU.
In pretty much any other game obviously I'm limited by my GPU. It happens to me no matter what, I also tried to turn off SMT as I'm only gaming , and its only slightly better....still can dip into the 50's with like 60% GPU usage. Annoying.
I only get the proper 95%+ GPU usage if I turn on super sampling .
At least it forces me to enjoy a better pic quality :D
