Low Humming Noise When Plugging in Headphones

Hello,

The case I am using is a Thermaltake Core v21. When I plug my headphones into the front I/O panel headphones and mic jacks, there is a constant humming sound through the headphones and audio is very faint. However, if I plug the headphones into the jack directly into my motherboard, everything works fine.

My computer is not old at all and I've always had this issue from the beginning. I've just ignored it and plugged directly into the motherboard, but now I'm curious if the front jack is bad, or if I hooked something up wrong?

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: I am using a usb powered Turtle Beach headset

Solution
The cable from the motherboard to the front panel sound can act as an antenna picking up a lot of the electrical noise in the case as it passes many "noisy" components. Unless the cable is high quality and shielded (very few, if any, are) there's a good probability of humming or static when using the front panel audio headers. It is for this reason many users simply ignore the front panel audio headers. The best sound output will come directly from the motherboard

Yes, I think that is correct. I was playing with the cable with the headset plugged in and as I moved it around the humming sound fluctuated. Looks like I'll just stick to the motherboard inputs. Thanks for your expertise!
