Hello,
I've just installed my brand new SSD samsung 840 pro 256GB but my system runs really slow! I get some random 5-6 secs freezes and the random read/write benchmark results are low.
Just an example: I bought cod:ghosts and it takes 1 minute to load a multiplayer map!!!

I ran Samsung Magician and set in the OS optimization menu "max performance"
SSD is connected with AHCI 6GB with 6GB cable, TRIM is on.

My specs:
i5 2500k
asus p8z68v-pro
SSD samsung 840 pro 256GB

Benchmark result:
http://it.tinypic.com/r/2whnt6s/5

BIOS already updated like other stuff, made some auto OC via UEFI bios...fixed the freezes but still low random r/w...!
Any new suggestions? I think this might have to do with the bios

I also just installed a SAMSUNG 840 Pro ssd 256gb. I did a NEW CLEAN install. NOT A CLONE! As many bugs cross over from a clone starting up a new hard drive. So, this could be your problem? Just a thought..... as my Hard Drive runs very smoothly. ALSO I spoke with Samsung on the telephone before I installed this 840 Pro SSD. They mentioned I should install a "TRIM Software Package" as the Hard Drive could build up and crash in a very short time of 3 months. If "ˇTRIM" is NOT installed and activated! Something to think about if you down loaded a "TRIM Software" on this drive? GOOGLE "TRIM SOFTWARE". My computer is a "Macbook".

hi, I've made a clean install too!
If followed a guide online to see if it is activated: it is...i'm really angry because this is not working as expected...i load faster with my caviar black HDD!
Did you install samsung magician? Or are you using Intel rapid storage technology?

I didn't install either. LOL ..... My "APPLE" Computer store locally told me if I installed the hard drive. I bought a tool kit from ("ifixit.com") Great web site! Photo's for anything in repairs.... The (APPLE STORE) said they would install all the software for the computer. They installed "Mavericks" for FREE. I installed Java, Flip4mac, a TRIM Enabler program by Groths.com. It seems to run very well. On my MACBOOK. Samsung 840 Pro 256gb.

REMEMBER.... I mentioned I have an ( "APPLE Macbook" ) that I installed this NEW 840 Pro hard drive on. The Local APPLE store in my town..... installed the rest of the needed Software Operating System "Maverick's" 10.9
I also installed a ( Trim Software from Groths.com) which SAMSUNG told me I should add to my NEW hard drive while operating it on my MAC BOOK.

I have a similar problem with LazyFerret in my 128gb Samsung pro! I have normal read/write speed but low iops speed ~42000 random read ~35000 random write when should be 97000 and 90000! The tests are made using Samsung Magician

look I had a similar problem tried everything but the last thing I did was install intel rapid storage from the page which is my gigabyte motherboard and restart after installation my iops went from normal to reach my samsung pro 256 gb try to do the same

I have a 840 series (on a desktop) ran Magician and three out to the four benchs max out with the Random Read numbers the only one reading well below or even half of what it ''should?'' be.
Seq R 538/530
Seq W 138/130
Ran R 386622/86000 ***
Ran W 32415/32000
As you can see the Random Reads aren't even half while the others are over what max shows.

Being an older post but relevant to what I was seeking also I was hoping that the random read issue is just a 'quirk' of the ssd or that it is related to rather or not how 'defragged' the drive may be. Saw a related post and his numbers where almost exactly like mine. Just wondering if anyone has a handle on why the random reads would be the way they are.

I was having similar problems. Super slow Random Read's and Writes. If I shutdown all programs the computer would run better. In hindsight, any multi-tasking would bog the computer right down. I noticed my CPU was not ever getting worked over 50. My SSD and HHD were not being taxed much over 7%.

I found half my heatsink was loose. I reset it into place, and my things went right back to normal.

LGA 1155 Aftermarket heatsink uses the metal backplate. The nuts on the back had come loose.
AsRock Z77 Performance Motherboard was keeping the computer going but limiting how hot it would let the CPU get.
