I recently upgraded (or maybe downgraded) my SSD from Samsung 850 PRO 256Gb to Crucial MX300 525Gb. From some reason I make a low level format on the new drive and at tge begin, first 5% the speed was ~500MBps and then drops to ~270MBps. With 850 PRO I think it was more than 300MBps when I format it cos I sold it. I know that 850 PRO supose to be faster, but that much? And one more, dose low level can be bad for SSD, like slowdown performance or something? I don't know why I format the new SSD but I did. Usually till now I bought the second hand one and always preform low level format before use it in my PC... :)

Solution
Low level format doesn't harm ssd....it just add some writing/reading cycle to its life, so helps it get older....but no big deal if you don't do that daily.
