Hello,

I wanted to see if anyone was experiencing the same situation I am. I am playing WoW Cataclysm with a i5 750 and radeon 4890 with 4 gbs of ram and most of the time i have to put the settings on fair-good to have a smooth playing experience. There are times I can put it on high or ultra but i will usually end up getting fairly low fps and it is difficult to play. I noticed especially in Uldum, I pretty much HAD to set it on fair to play smoothly. Does anyone else have similar specs and have similar performance? I feel like i should have better performance after reading around with my computer.

Thanks

Should be running better than it is on high or ultra.

I'm running a 4890 and 4 gbs (ddr3) and never get any major slowdown.

Best I can say is make sure everything is updated (drivers / in game addons / ect) and reading properly.

Maybe even mess with the setting in ATI CCC

Run in windowed mode and check task manager for any programs that may be using a large amount of system resources. Programs like antivirus software can cause performance issues with WoW. How is your latency and what OS are you using?

O really damn.. ?? i guess i can try updated the drivers. My latency is okay. 100-200. I'm using windows 7 professional 64 bit.

Running windowed mode improves my fps by like 10 lol, but i wanna play fullscreen

sry deleted the text somehow and posted blank 😛

when u check windowed u have the option maximized availible, that makes ur window look like its full screen

You can also test each major individual hardware piece for performance issues. The built-in Windows Ratings software can kind of point you in the right direction to where performance issues are occurring if you're familiar with what type of ratings your hardware should be getting.

Also, many people tend to neglect the simple maintenance procedures such as running a CHKDSK /R on the drive and even defragmentation. These tasks of oftentimes neglected and ignored. Fragmentation when left to get out of hand can have a noticable detrimental effect on everyday usage of a system and can make your games run slower than expected. A preventive approach is the best solution to ensure drive longevity and performance retention. There are even drivers available that work with the OS to prevent fragmentation before it even happens.
