I have one shitty psu, spire 420w or something like that, the problem is it says 15A on 12v rail. So im getting used gpu with low power consumption. Will this psu be enough for hd 7750, hd 7770, gtx 650? (Or any other gpu with tdp under 70w)

Solution

Honestly adding any extra load to that psu can quite easily kill it qnd possibly take other parts with it. I recommend you first get a quality psu before getting a gpu.

Whenever you have in this instance a 420 watt PSU, never go over this power level. as it will cause you pc to have shutdowns. but if you are only planning to use a hd 7750 / hd 7770 or even a gtx 650, you should be fine, the requirements are 400w so the conclusion:

Yes, it is enough for the gpu.

if you are not sure if it will be enough for the rest of the system, use this website to calculate how much you need:

That psu due to being so low quality is known to shut off when trying to go over 200w of powerdraw.

Then don't use the current power supply and spent a little bit more money on a higher tier one. You really want a good PSU as this is one of the most important parts of your pc. cheaping out on your PSU and the PSU will cheap out on all of your hardware before you know it.

i dont think its that bad tbh. i mean im sure it wont take 300+ watts but 200w are nothing. the thing is im using xeon on 775mobo so whole system max load is not even 200w.

i know that but the thing is this gpu can be found for 20$, used psu with brand on it will be 30-40$, and if i have that psu why would i use week gpu so i will need 30-40$ for gpu too. the price raises from 20$ to over 50 with new psu.

The spire 420 is constantly on this forum as a problem and can't even run a ryzen 2200g system without a gpu most of the time.

It's as simple as. Get a weak gpu with the current psu and have a high chance of something going wrong or wait until you can get a better psu and not risk the system.

Off all those the hd 7750 would be the safest option.

yep i was looking at it but its 100$ new and there is not a single one used. if im spending 100$ i would get psu and gpu better than 1030....
