Hi, have a little problem with ram clearance.
as can be seen in the pic, the second ram slot is almost below the fan of the cooler, cannot attach another kingston to it

question: are there low profile 16gb DDR4 ram available for my board? Planning to buy pair. :)

mobo: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/PRIME/PRIME-B560M-K/
cpu: i5-10600k
ram: Kingston Fury Beast, CL 16 1.2v
cooler: Cryorig M9 Plus

this is the orientation right now. The slightly raised side is facing the ram. Is this wrong? I could have the technician reinstall the cooler if needed.
Yes - it's wrong.

Unclip fans,
unscrew cooler (2 screws there),
flip cooler to opposite direction,
fasten screws,
clip fans back.

Make sure airflow direction is correct (from front to back). There are arrows on fans showing direction of airflow.

will try later tonight, if the fan can be moved. Cannot do it right now, since I'm using the new pc to type this post.

sorry, and I just realized the pic does not show the actual clearance. Will try to take a better picture as well.

there is clearance under the fan, the ram would fit if it's approximately half the height of the kingston.

Yeah if fan can be moved maybe 3-4mm upwards other RAM might fit there too.

Not sure about low profile ones being actually half the height of the Kingston or other RAM.

The M9 Plus has two fans right? Push-pull setup. Drastic measure would be to remove the push fan but that would impact the cooling performance too much so it's out of the question.

I guess you can search the net and see what RAM others have matched with your board and cooler.

Although now that I look at the pic it looks like a thinner RAM stick (not like the Kingston) should fit. Those sticks with just PCB and chips, no heatsink.

Anyway, yes, better pictures from various angles would make it easier to see.

If you scroll down 2/3 pages from the product link above, you can see the offset.
SkyNetRising indicated that the fans were not oriented properly.
You can tell(barely) by looking at the shape of the blades.
If so, the airflow is going towards the front of the case, not the rear as it should be.
If the mount is reversed, the shorter end will be where the ram is located.

I click on the photo in OPs post and don't get bigger one in that site, just lands on https://postimages.org/. Don't see fan blades in the one photo clearly.

Haven't see the cooler and pictures really. Just checked the page for Cryorig M9 Plus. It clearly says
Zero Interference
Any RAM
Any Height

Haven't seen the cooler myself or pictures of it till now. Just checked the page for Cryorig M9 Plus. It clearly says "Zero Interference Any RAM Any Height". If there's RAM interference, as said above, the cooler must be installed in the wrong orinetation. If you correct that there'd be no need for finding low profile RAM or making any changes.

Also looking at the cooler pictures on the Cryorig website there's some kind of black shroud/crown on top fo the heatsink/tower and I'm not sure but the fan's can't be moved higher than where they should go.

@Satan-IR

removing a fan is sadly not an option. Temps are 30-40 on idle, but on gaming it goes up to 70-80 for Dead or Alive VI - playing on low res, because no gpu is installed yet.

idle

game turned on

a few more angles

noticed that the fan on the side facing the ram is slightly higher than than the other one. When my friendly pc technician visits again, I'll ask him to try and move it up a little higher if possible, so I could put another kingston in if cannot find low profile ram.

I guess this problem is almost solved now. :)

BTW - fans on your cpu cooler are in wrong orientation.

If you have clearance issues with current fan, it's possible to replace it with slim type 92mm fan.
(14mm thickness instead of standard 25mm)

this is the orientation right now. The slightly raised side is facing the ram. Is this wrong? I could have the technician reinstall the cooler if needed.

checked the temps again. Looks fine.

Yeah as I can see now the cooler is facing the wrong way. I just mentioned removing fan as in some situations user did that when there was nothing else to do and they could't replace cooler and the cooler had just one 'push' fan they moved it to back to work as 'pull' and the cooler would somehow perform the same. In systems with CPUs that wouldn't get crazy hot inder load. That as I said can't and shouldn't be done in your case.

Also pay attention to the air flow direction of the fans. Push from front towards the sink and pull back out towards the back of the case.

The airflow from the fan would pass over RAM slots and provide them with some ventilation. I mean RAM temps should be OK I guess, even if you use RAM with no heatsink as long as there's no overclock which would require more voltage.

The cooler needs to be remounted so that the shorter side is near the ram.
Remounting the cooler is no big deal.
Warm up the processor first to soften the paste, making it easy to remove.
The old paste needs to be cleaned off from both the processor and the cooler
and new paste applied. Just a drop in the center will do it.
See that the fans airflow direction is from the ram side to the rear exhaust side.

The cooler is a decent one, Actually peak loads of 80c. are not bad.
A processor will monitor it's own temperature.
If it senses a dangerous temperature, it will slow down(throttle) or even shut off if need be.
For Intel, that point is around 100c. AMD, about 90c.
Run Hwmonitor.
It will show current, minimum and maximum temperatures.

Idle at 15-20c. over ambient(in the case temperature) is normal from any cooler.
Ambient will be higher than room temperature.
If the max temperature shows red, you have throttled.
Most of the time, the cpu keeps working, but at a lower performance level, increasing the reported cpu utilization.

thread update. Went to the korean shop today. The technician on duty took off the fans of the cooler, unscrewed the cooler, flipped the cooler on the opposite direction.

the ram has clearance now. Don't need to search for low profile ram. Regular sized ram would be fine.
thanks @SkyNetRising. Ram problem solved, and air flow improved.

two problems got solved in this one thread. :)
