Low Profile RAM + High Profile RAM?

Hello. I know that I will need to get at least one low profile RAM stick to make way for the CPU cooler. I would also eventually upgrade to 32GB, so all 4 RAM slots will be in use, eventually...

For aesthetic purposes only, I wanted to use high profile RAM. I would like to know if low and high profile RAM would work still in different channels.

Let us know your motherboard, it may benefit from dual channel using slots 3 & 4. It's really dependent on the board.

some maker made low and high profile ram in the same set specs so your better go dual on ram set .

It also is dependent on your cooler... Some you can change mounting direction and some will clear your ram with height. It all depends on your build.

If thinking 32GB, get a single set, there are no guarantees mixing packages of DRAM will work together - even two identical sets of the same model

I've done it on my computer (2 LP RAM sticks and 1 HP RAM stick), and it works perfectly well !
The only downside about LP RAM is that it heats a bit more than HP RAM, so don't even think about overclocking it.
