Low resolution through hdmi

Hi, I have connected my asus rog strix gtx 1060 6gb through hdmi in my monitor. I have a new build and have not installed any os. But the resolution says 1280x1024 in monitor. If I coonect it through dvi then I get 1920x1080. Can anyone tell me the solution of this problem?

P.S. - Also when connecting through 1st hdmi slot of graphics card, there is no output and the mo itor display goes to sleep.

You need a OS on your computer......once you have that download all of your drivers for your GPU. Once you have an OS then just go to settings>Display options and select 1920x1080.

Thanks man! It worked and I changed the resolution to 1080p.
