Hey,

I know this question kindof treads the same territory as brainstorm's post below, but...

I have been wanting a 19" LCD for a while, after what I thought was a good deal of research (mainly specs comparison) I thought I'd be happy with the BenQ FP951. However, as Jayto says in reply to Brainstorm, the FP951 sucks! Colour is crappy, and the ghosting is really annoying. I'm using DVI out of my Radion 9700 pro and I'm really dissapointed.

I'm taking it back, but I've really wanted to go to a 19" Lcd for a while, which are the ones out there good for gaming and video (I'm not hardcore, but it is my computer's primary function)? I've mainly only seen 25ms response times... does that mean they're all going to have the same problem? Is a 12ms response time the standard for good gaming?

I've seen below a lot of good recomendations for 17" screens, and someone mentioned that a new generation is just around the corner... did I just buy at the wrong time?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

The only 19" I've found below 25ms is the Samsung 193P, w/ a stated response time of 20ms. This is mostly due to the fact that they're usually based on the "slower" VA technology, as opposed to the TN technology used in most of the "gaming" 17" models recently producted with <20ms. One thing to note is that Samsung's own 172X (a 12 ms model) is based upon an MVA panel, so it's possible that 19" 12ms panels aren't far behind. HardwareBoss said BenQ was releasing a 12ms 19" in the next month a few posts down, so it looks like the "next generation" is just around the corner. I would wait and see what happens, or choose a high quality 17" for gaming, which will probably also save you some cash.

I have just bought a 19" Acer AL1912 with a 16ms response rate. Its a fantastic screen and very slim, light weight at only 5kg...lighter than most 17" screens. Acer panels seem to be very underrated in my opinion. The 1912 can be had for £398 in the UK. Not sure about availability outside of Europe though.

FYI, there's a review on Anand for the Sharp LL-191 (listed as 16ms), comparing the aforementioned Sharp with the Dell 2001FP. You can find it here:
